The Hamster of the Baskervilles (J. Garcia-Pallares)

The HAMSTER of the BASKERVILLES
Bruce Hale
Some thing I like about this wonderful comedy book is that it has animals that can talk and there’s a werewolf-type creator in this story. There are some funny parts in this book. Chet Gecko is a young boy who gets in trouble but also a detective. His teacher makes a deal with this young boy to solve a problem? The problem is who trashed Mr. Ratnose’s classroom. Later on there is more vandalism in Baskerville. Chet finds his friend Natalie to help him solve this mystery. Soon after they have some hypotheses about a group of kid name the Dirty Rotten Stinkers. This group is a group of bullies in his school. Later on there comes a point that they have to choose to be good students or join the Dirty Rotten Stinker group. So they join to solve the vandalism in the school.
One thing I didn’t like about this book was when the Gecko and his friend Natalie had to join a group of bullies to solve a problem in their school. They could have solved it by being themselves not someone who they are not.
Some things I like about the book are that a young student gets in trouble and he is a detective in school. Also how he can make a deal with his teachers. Like the saying: “You scratch my back and I’ll scratch your back”.

  1. Sounds like an interesting book. Can't wait to get your review of the next book. (PS--what kind of deals do they make with teachers? Do they bring the teacher coffee????)
